In the midst of all the business of everyday life—jobs, volunteerism, sports and the rush of the modern world—it is wonderfully relaxing to participate in God’s Love for His creation. That we are His, that He Loves us, and that He has plans for us to be One with Him for all Eternity. God’s Love is unconditional. Even when we fail, He still loves us and that Love is meant to see the excellence of our lives—Eternal Joy. That truly makes one wonder why there are people who choose not to know Him and not to follow Him.
Our Music Ministry at St. Catherine of Siena is blessed to have so many talented volunteers who help us pray through liturgical music each week. Each of our groups would like to continue to grow this year. If you have ever thought of joining one of the groups, now is the time! Please contact Susan Zybert, susanzybert@comcast.net, for more information. CLICK FOR MORE DETAILS!!
This past Christmas we had overwhelming crowds at all the Masses—the Four O’clock children’s Mass saw the Church, the vestibule and Russell Hall packed to the hilt; and the Six and the Ten O’clock Masses were also at full capacity and the Christmas Day Mass, which usually sees some 200 churchgoers realized more than double that number. The comments from our parishioners that night were very positive and the numerous notes I have received in the mail have been very flattering—from the decorations to the warmth of the parishioners in the pews to the music—everything was spot on. We come “to know” God not in the same we know how to solve an algebra problem of how to make a cake, rather we know God through an intimate relationship—by feeling His presence in our lives. His presence brings with it His power. His power will save us.
We also “know” the Lord by listening to His Word—and allowing His Word to dwell within us and make its home in our hearts, forming our hearts after His Will. CLICK TO READ MORE...
It is awesome to hear our parishioners singing! I have never been in a parish with more vibrant congregational singing, and it is truly heartening for myself and our musicians. Your participation is so important in all aspects of the Mass but I am so happy you know that your singing is important too. That being said, I now know there are a LOT of talented singers in the pews from children to adults. We are getting ready to start all of our groups this month and each group would love more singers. I just want to publically say how beautiful and moving the Seven Last Words of Christ was on February 27th. The choirs, soloists, and musicians were spectacular. The choice of music was perfect. I want to thank Susan Zybert, our music director, for her talent and organizational skills. And to our lectors—Dick Hopkins, David Pluta and Theresa Bellacosa —a big thank-you for your spiritual readings. I also wish to thank Kathi Bonner, our director of Religious Education for organization and execution skills to make everything work so well.
This is our second year hosting the Seven Last Words of Christ and while the crowds were not what I had hoped for—I believe the threat of a "weather event" had an impact—I do hope that we put it on our calendars for next year and I know that you will be mightily impressed and blessed by attending.
February 27 at 7:30 p.m. Saint Catherine will host the sec-ond annual Seven Last Words of Christ, a time of sacred music, readings, prayer and meditation designed specifically for the Lenten Season. I hope you will attend this beautiful event. Brief yet powerful, last year’s attendants were astounded by the power and beauty of this liturgy and were very complimentary of the work put into it by the choir, the lectors and Susan Zybert, our music director. I was impressed so much so that I believe this is a wonderful spiritual exercise for each and every member of our parish. I hope you will mark your calendars and join us this year. It will be worth the time and will set the tone for a truly powerful Lenten experience as you hear the compassion and love that Christ offers us from His cross. Don’t miss it
