This weekend’s first reading from the Book of Numbers (11:25-29) reminds us that the Spirit of God—the Holy Spirit—is offered as a great gift to the whole of creation, to each and every human person. We are called to accept and unwrap God’s gift of the Spirit and then use it in right relationship. This reading tells us that the Spirit is offered to those whom we might not think "deserving" of it. God decides. God gives. This reading also may remind us of the Latin phrase, Vocatus atque non vocatus Deus aderit: "Biden or not, God is present." Our personal need for convenience or selfish desires does not change the reality that God exists. CLICK TO READ MORE!

Our ministries here at St. Catherine of Siena avail us many opportunities to do just that: care. Some of the ministries are ongoing and some are "once-a-year activities." All are important and vital not only to the parish and Church but most impor-tantly to those in need. I hope you will review the following lists (which will appear in the next few bulletins) and pray over them to see how you can serve God. As I have said before, God does not expect you to do everything but He does except everyone to do something. This week our list begins with some new ministries that will need some leadership as we determine their structure and their functionality. I hope some folks step forward to initiate these ministries...

Be strong! Fear not! Here is your God; he comes with vindication; with divine recompense he comes to save you." He is able to say this to them because he knows that God will come to His people…to the deaf, the frightened, the blind, the unemployed, the sick, those suf-fering in failing marriages or broken relationships—to all in need. And then all will be healed, "…the burning sands will become pools, and the thirsty ground, springs of water." All will be well, very well indeed. CLICK TO READ MORE...
I don’t much care for the fact that it is already dark at 8 p.m., that the mornings are a wee-bit cooler ,and that my calendar is already loaded with meeting dates and ministry projects...where did the ease of summer go? Schools are back in session and those dreaded “schedules” now being posted everywhere are taking control of the once, quiet and relaxing days of summer. I realize my life is much less complicated—being single and having no children—devoid of all the joys and corresponding errands, chores, and schedules that make up modern family life...but I still feel the entanglement of the dreaded schedules— Click to read more...
