Many folks have asked me to provide for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during evening hours here in our parish. Currently we hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each weekday on Tuesday mornings, immediately following daily Mass. Knowing that this is not convenient for those who work during the day; I would like to propose that one night each month we will hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
To that end, and knowing that my evening schedule is already pretty full with meetings for Finance Council, Parish Council, RCIA, Forward with Faith, various ministry meetings which I attend, as well as evening appointments for weddings and other topics, I cannot fully commit to being present at all of these Adorations of the Blessed Sacrament. I need and would like to invite those members of our parish who are interested in being trained for leading Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament to let me know of your interest (658 1642) and to come to a meeting on Tuesday, November 12th, 7 p.m. in the church for training. According to the Guidelines RITE OF EUCHARISTIC EXPOSITION AND BENEDICTION, the following is noted:
“MINISTER OF EXPOSITION: The ordinary minister for exposition of the Eucharist is a priest or deacon. In the absence of a priest or deacon, a special minister of Communion or another person appointed by the pastor may publicly expose the Eucharist for the adoration of the faithful and later repose it. Such ministers may open the tabernacle and either place the ciborium on the altar or place the Host in the monstrance. At the end of the period of adoration, they replace the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle. It is not lawful for them to give the blessing with the sacrament, nor do they incense it.”
I hope a number of people will be interested and will respond to this invitation. Thank you!
