Soon we will be finalizing our design for the new Stations of the Cross. They will form a journey of the Way of the Cross around our church, beginning at the flags near the rear wall and the windows and follow along to the break of the Church, across the front of the rear pews and over to the Reconciliation Room. The Stations will be made of stone, approximately 38” high and having a depiction of the Station on the top. The deadline for memorializing the Way of the Cross is September 14th.
In order to make this memorializing process of remembering a loved one or for noting a special intention open to all, we have come up with the following for memorializing. Some Stations will be individually memorialized and others will be collectively memorialized. This will enable some who are unable to memorialize an entire Station due to cost ($3000 each) will still be able to remember a loved one by donating to the Way of the Cross. And since we follow the journey of Christ on the Way of the Cross, I thought this was fitting.
There will be a formal plaque that will list a description of the Way of the Cross and will list all names of those who have donated to the project. There will also be a listing of those to whom the Way of the Cross is memorialized. Depending on numbers, we will also list the names of those to whom singular Stations are memorialized. It is my hope that whether you donate $3000 or $500 or $100, all members of our parish can be included in this beautiful and very meaningful Catholic tradition. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me on 658 1642 or after Mass.
When sending in a check for the Stations, please include the way you wish to have your name as a benefactor listed and also the spelling of the name(s) of those who are to be memorialized. Thank you.
