In February 2020 Archbishop Leonard Blair affirmed my recommendation for the Parish awardee of the Archdiocesan St Joseph Medal of Appreciation, the Hartford Church’s highest award recognizing members of the laity for their good works at the parish level—good works which promote the ongoing mission and ministry of Christ. As the Church is the Mystical Body of Christ, acting both collectively and individually as Christ desires us to act, we are all called to “do something” in Christ’s Name to better the common good and make the Kingdom of Heaven present now. This year our parish recognizes, congratulates and thanks Mr. and Mrs. Kevin and Mary O’Bryan as our recipients of the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation.
Mary and Kevin serve St. Catherine of Siena parishioners as a Eucharistic Minister, prayer leader through our Prayer Ministry, in our Health & Healing Ministry; and as an Usher and member of the Executive Committee of our very successful Forward with Faith Leadership Team on our 2019 capital campaign, Respectively. In addition, Kevin and Mary and their two children are active members of the parish in-andthrough our Youth Ministry, Faith Formation and Altar Serving. As pastor, I thank Mary and Kevin (and Joe and Grace) for all that they have done and do for our parish—and like many others here—-for making St. Catherine such a vibrant and welcoming Catholic community.
