Sing to the Lord a new song!
First, I have to say that it is awesome to hear our parishioners singing! I have never been in a parish with more vibrant congregational singing, and it is truly heartening for myself and our musicians. Your participation is so important in all aspects of the Mass but I am so happy you know that your singing is important too. That being said, I now know there are a LOT of talented singers in the pews from children to adults. We are getting ready to start all of our groups this month and each group would love more singers.
Our Children's Choir sings at the vigil Mass the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from September through May. This group consists of children entering grades 2-8. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:20 PM. We have many veterans as well as newer students, so if your child likes to sing, we would love to continue to grow the children's choir. No registration is required - our first rehearsal is Tuesday, September 17th from 6:30-7:20 PM in the Music Room. For more information, contact Susan Zybert at susanzybert@comcast.net .
Our Adult Choir sings at the 11 AM Mass weekly from September through May and rehearses on Tuesdays from 7:30- 9 PM in the Music Room. This group is open to adults and high school students. It is a wonderful group of caring people who en-joying singing in harmony. One of the things I often hear the members saying is, "I wish we had more singers!" So, don't be afraid to give it a try - it's a lot of fun! Our first rehearsal is Tuesday, September 10th from 7:30-9:00 PM in the Music Room. Our Contemporary Group sings at most of our 5 PM Sunday evening Masses and practices on certain Thursday evenings from 7-9 PM in the Music Room. Using a combination of singers and instrumentalists, we sing music from the Contemporary repertoire of the Church. In the past we have worked with Jesse Manibusan and this year will work with Steve Angrisano in October. We would love more singers and would particularly like to get the youth involved in Music Ministry. or more information on rehearsals or for questions, contact Erin Smith at erin919@comcast.net .
