Many of us have lots of questions about “how to pray” and “what we should pray for.” Some might even have questions about their “power to pray” or if God even “listens to me”. Some wonder to whom I should pray: God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Mary, and Joseph, another saint— or nana.
First, God does hear our prayers! And we need to pray—and pray often!! Prayer is dialogue with God, and He wants to talk with us.
On Saturday, February 7, from 9 am to Noon in Russell Hall, there will be a prayer team here from St. Thomas Seminary’s Charismatic Renewal Office. Prayer teams will answer all our questions, show us how to prayer and what kinds of prayers there are, and to whom we should direct our prayers. We will learn that we all received the power to pray at Baptism, and it was completed in Confirmation with the fullness of the Holy Spirit given to us. We will learn about prayers of praise, intercessory prayers and more.
This wonderful event is being sponsored by our parish’s Health and Healing Ministry whose goal is make the connection between physical and spiritual healing of the human condition. Programs sponsored by the Health and Healing Ministry, comprised of nurses, health professionals and prayerful people, include our annual Flu Clinic, healthy food choices at parish events, and bereavement outreach and more. I highly recommend taking a few hours on Saturday morning and learn how you can improve or jumpstart your own prayer life or how you can better pray for those you love. We are a prayerful people!
