Last Saturday after the Vigil Mass our newly created parish Welcome Committee hosted an Ice Cream Social to welcome our newest families—and our returning families—to our parish for the fall start -up. It was a wonderful event and I am pleased to have met so many of our new families. A big welcome to all of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish family and I hope you not only feel welcomed here but that you also feel “ownership” in our parish family.
We are blessed with a growing and vibrant parish. From 2007’s registration of 875 families to to-day’s more than 1,300 families we are alive with wonderful folks who do many great ministries and events to carry on Jesus’ public ministry right here in our modern world. From Pantry Partners, Feed the Hungry, and St. Elizabeth’s House ministries to feed and nourish those in difficult economic times and the homeless, to parishioners who care for neighbors in need, to Men’s and Women’s Clubs who reach out to the Simsbury community, to those who bring Holy Communion to sick, knit prayer shawls for the sick and grieving, to a new Health and Healing ministry and so much more—we are carrying on the mission and ministry of Christ.
It is my hope that as our new families acquaint themselves with our bigger family and our ministries; you will feel welcome to join in and continue to grow our success story. It’s because of Christ and You—joining hands and hearts to make His love open to all.
