Dr. John Rosemond will speak here at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish on February 22nd and 23rd to parents and all family members. This is part of our Forward with Faith (FWF) Campaign to which so many of you have generously contributed. I hope you will come to this event.
I received a very good question from a parishioner about the $10 cost of the ticket in light of the money contributed to the Forward with Faith Campaign. So why the $10 per ticket cost if the FWF was meant to cover expenses?
First, St. Catherine of Siena is NOT making any money on this event. All costs will be covered by the FWF Campaign.
Second, Dr. Rosemond, as with many national speakers, requires a fee to be charged. Usually $20 per ticket to ensure people come—often times when an event is offered free-of-charge people will sign-up for it and then many do not come on the day of the event for a host of reasons—and more so since it was “free.” We are obligated by the contract to charge a fee; we chose the lowest possible fee.
Third, to all who register and come, St. Catherine has already purchased Dr. Rosemond’s book which he was going to sell at the event—which the parish will give free-of-charge to each family that registers and attends. We decided to do this so that we “refund” your $10 ticket cost via the free book. Feeling this was the best of the options provided to us by the contract.
I hope people see in this that we are not “double-dipping” and certainly do not want anyone to feel we are being “outrageous or unjust” in the money aspect of this program. I thank you for—and encourage—any questions on any program or process we use to move forward in promoting our faith here at St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
