The Catholic faith calls us to remember to pray for our loved ones who have gone home to God, for their soul to be welcomed home by our Father. We pray for the souls in purgatory, for God loves us all and this is why He asks us to pray for the beloved dead. We also believe, as Catholics, in the Communion of Saints—that when we die and enter into Heaven we are members of the Communion of Saints, sharing in God’s Eternal Light. Thus we can pray to our deceased parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles—all who have died and ask them to bring our prayers to God. That’s pretty powerful!
On All Souls Day, we dedicate our prayers for all the dead, especially at Mass. During November, the priest prays each day for our deceased loved ones in special prayers offering petitions for their noble souls. Please use your All Souls Envelopes, which can also be found on the round table in the atrium, and list the names of your deceased loved ones whom you would like me to pray for during November. Hand your envelope in through the collection basket, to Fr.
Michael or Lisa in the office. Please be assured of my prayers for your loved ones as I remember them during November. “May all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in the Mercy of God!”
