Advent Giving Tree As we enter the final week of Advent, I wish to once again draw your attention to the year’s Advent Giving Tree (AGT).
As many know, we support the Knights of Malta Mobile House of Care (MHC) and our own Neighbors in Need program (NIN).
With the pandemic’s isolation, we have been hit with a “perfect storm”: (1) fewer people able to attend Mass, thus hear about the AGT and collect their envelopes to donate to these two great causes, and (2) increased needs for healthcare assistance (MHC) and more help for food and assistance due to lost jobs and reduced hours. People are struggling even more due to this pandemic.
If you are able to assist our neighbors who find themselves harmed by all the restrictions due to social distancing and isolation, please give thanks to God by helping a sister, brother or family in need.
This year our parish Christmas card will include an AGT envelope for your convenience and assistance. While it may seem crass to include a request for financial help within Christmas blessings, nothing is normal in 2020. Forgive me.
If you are able to help, please do. And as you count your blessings underneath and around your Christmas tree this year, giving thanks to God by extending help to another is the Christian thing to do.
Kindly mail your envelope to St. Catherine of Siena, P .O. Box 184, West Simsbury, Conn, 06092 or drop them off a the parish office at 265 Stratton Brook Rd, West Simsbury. You may also place them in the collection basket at Mass. God Bless you and May He keep you and yours safe in His Providential care
As we close out this most unusual year, let us give thanks to God for His many blessing, and implore Him for a better, healthier and more normal 2021! I give thanks to our Lord for you and all those of is parish, as I especially count you and all at St. Catherine of Siena as a true blessing from God. May He abundantly bless us all, keep us safe, and always in His Providential Care! Goodbye 2020! Come in 2021!
Happy Christmas + Peace, Fr. Michael
