Evening Adoration is being planned once again. Last year, this was offered once-a-month on the third Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., with lay parishioners who have been trained in the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament to enable an opportunity for private prayer before the Lord.
This is a beautiful and very powerful opportunity for you to join others in bringing your personal prayers, needs and petitions to the Lord in private conversations (prayer) before the God of all creation. It is, with an open heart, a very moving and spiritual setting.
It also becomes powerful when numbers of people participate. While “prayer” does not require large numbers to be heard by God—that is for certain—there is something, from a human perspective, when we gather together in prayer. Critical mass is important to the human condition. It reminds us that we are not alone. I say this because I encourage all parishioners to attend and place themselves before the exposed Lord. In the devotion of Adoration, the Consecrated host is placed in a Monstrance and set on the altar surrounded by lighted candles. Prayers are offered briefly and then silence allows us all to pray to the Lord with all our heart and concerns.
I invite all parishioners to “try Adoration again for the first time” and to invite a friend to join in. I personally believe that prayer truly works—and the more who come to God in prayer, the closer our wills align with His Will, and the better off we and His Church are.
Our first Tuesday night Adoration is scheduled for September 17th at 7 p.m..
