Mother of Peace Orphanage Concert Raised Nearky 40,000 rand
Mother of Peace Orphanage Concert Raised Nearly 40,000 rand Last June 29, 2013 our parish’s music ministry held its first-ever Sacred Music Concert for the benefit of the Mother of Peace Orphanage (MOP) in South Africa. MOP provides educational and everyday living support to children in South Africa who have been abandoned by their families due to illness and disease, including HIV. When these little children have no place to turn, the MOP orphanage shows them God’s love and mercy. Both our children and adult choirs under the direction of Susan Zybert, and at the urging of parishioner and choir member John Hayes, organized a benefit concert of sacred music including some well-known South African hymns. The concert was a great success on many fronts, it highlighted the many talented musicians and instrumentalists we have in our parish family, and it raised $4,000.00 or some 40,000 South African rand. I recently received a thank you note from Colleen de Cerf, principal at the Mother of Peace Orphanage complete with an outline of how your generous donations will benefit the children in need:
Thank you and God bless and keep you.
