Background: The Men’s Club is an organized group that enjoys socializing together and is dedicated to working to improve our parish and the community around us. All men of the parish are welcome to join.
What the Ministry does: The mission of the Men’s Club is to provide outreach to our parish and our community by connecting the men of Saint Catherine of Siena through social and service activities.
How the Ministry operates: The Men’s Club has sponsored our annual Parish Picnic for decades. We’ve expanded to sponsor or co-sponsor Christmas parties, Easter Alleluia celebrations, a Lenten Fish Fry, golf tournaments and other events aimed at building our parish community. We go way beyond social events, though. Over the years, we have participated in several community service projects including building decks on the Rectory and for parishioners, constructing a food pantry for Sacred Heart Church in Hartford, and renovating homes for parishioners in need and, through the Knights of Malta, for victims of Hurricane Katrina. We participate in providing annual leaf raking services to our local community and in many other community outreach projects. Any monies generated through our activities are directed back into the needs of the parish or the community and into supporting many other parish ministries.
When does the Ministry take action:The Men’s Club usually meets once a month on a weekday evening. Our events are scheduled at various times throughout the year.
Why the Ministry may be right for you: With your support, the Men’s Club will be able to continue to serve our parish community and our local community at large. Being involved provides members the opportunity to meet other men in the parish, to develop life-long friends, and to realize a sense of satisfaction resulting from the many good deeds the group accomplishes.
