Definition of “COMITAS”: Taken from the Latin word for “kindness, generosity, friendliness, ease of manner”.
What We Do: COMITAS is a group of volunteers (both men & women) who want to help parishioners in need of assistance on a short term basis.
This typically involves making and delivering a meal to someone recovering from an accident or illness, or to a family who has recently lost a loved one. Or it may involve driving someone to a medical appointment if they are temporarily unable to drive.
How It Works: When we receive word of a parishioner in need of assistance, we send an e-mail to the COMITAS volunteer distribution list to see if someone is available to help out. If any volunteers can offer assistance, they reply back to the central Comitas e-mail address. We then provide specific contact details only to the volunteers who reply that they are available.
Why the Ministry might be right for you: This ministry exists simply to communicate a need for assistance to a large group of people and to get help to the person or family in need as quickly as possible.
