On Sunday, June 8 at 1 p.m. Saint Catherine of Siena Parish (in Russell Hall) will host a second in a conversational series entitled The Catholic Church in the Public Arena with an educated conversation on the factual issues relevant to President Obama's Affordable Care Act and the practice of our religious freedom.
Sponsored by the Defenders of Faith ministries at both Saint Catherine of Siena Parish and Saint Ann Parish (Avon), this open event will provide you with expert insight into the impact this legislation will have on the management of our Catholic hospitals and institutions as well as on the choices and rights of the Catholic practitioner from the viewpoints of medical management, Constitutional law, and the practice of religion.
Guest speakers will be Daniel P. O'Connell, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, The Reverend Monsignor John J. McCarthy, J.C.L., Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Hartford, and Attorney and Chief Legal Counsel Jeff Mateer of the nationally known Liberty Institute of Texas. The event will be professionally moderated and questions may be provided ahead of time by emailing your questions or concerns to stcathy@comcast.net.
The Defenders of Faith ministries are committed to bring you factual information regarding the impact of national, state and local laws impacting the practice of our faith in our homes, churches, and communities. Last year, Saint Ann Church hosted a conversation on religious freedom with WTIC AM 1080 radio talk show host Jim Vicevich, of Sound Off Connecticut and Connecticut Catholic lobbyist Michael Culhane. I encourage our parishioners to come and hear the facts on the Affordable Care Act (aka "Obamacare") and its impact on the Catholic Church corporately as well as on individual Catholic practitioners. Date and time: Sunday, June 8th at 1 p.m. in Russell Hall at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish.
