So far the parking lot is on schedule, weather permitting and thanks to the great work and leadership by Hugh Caldwell and Mike Grappone. Recently a town official stopped by to review the status of the project and he very freely informed us how lucky we were to have Caldwell Excavating managing this project. That is the truth! As you can see the new parking lot lights are being installed as I write in both the new lot and the current lot. Lighting is important as previously we had only two stadium-style lights, now we will have 24 lights in both lots. The increase is due to safety and zoning.
Paving will begin next week in the areas of the new lot and where the new drop-off is being designated by the atrium entrance. Walkways are completed and the new
entrance door on the side of Russell Hall has been motorized for handicapped accessibility. Cape Cod Fence Company has installed the railing for the bridge crossing. Additionally fencing will be installed near the rear of the shed (to close of the rear lot when not in use and to move and secure the dumpsters to their new location. A new walkway, from the current lot to the vestibule entrance, will be installed where the current pavers are located. The need to remove them is due to ice during the winter months which makes that walkway very dangerous. We are still slated to complete this phase of the project close to 19 September.
