As we continue to return to more normal public worship with greater participation of the laity, it is time to encourage our parishioners to consider becoming lectors, adult altar servers, Eucharistic ministers and ushers so that the celebration of the Mass is a smooth and effective liturgical experience.
This weekend at all Masses there will be sign-up sheets on the round table in the center of the atrium. I sincerely ask and encourage you to consider serving your Church and parish while you attend Mass.
There will be training for all positions. And our parish utilizes a system called Ministry Pro, which allows the server to select the Masses they attend and in which they are able to participate.
Each one of the above listed ministries is vital to the celebration of the Eucharistic meal.
Ushers greet and welcome, helping the assist with the collection for the operations of the parish;
Lectors are trained to proclaim the Word of God;
Eucharistic Ministers reverently distribute Holy Communion and
Adult Altar Servers assist the priest with the intimate celebration of the Lord’s Supper
Each contributing to the full and active participation of the laity in the Mass. St. Catherine of Siena Parish has been blessed with wonderful people to fill these roles at Mass, and I am certain that tradition will continue. Kindly look over the sign-up sheets this weekend and add your name to those you feel called to serve.
