The 2021 Advent Giving Tree raised $113,632!What a wonderful commentary on the people of thisparish and their Christian generosity towards those in need. Thank you!
The breakdown of the Advent Giving Tree is as follows:$57,291.50 to the Neighbors in Need fund;$45,340.50 to the Malta House of Care; and, $11,000 was undesignated (meaning “do as is most needed.”)Iam placing the entire $11,000 from the undesignated into the Malta House of Care, where a greater need willprevail throughout the whole of the year. Alsoduring the year receive we some additional monies for the NIN fund, so theadditional dollars will do the greatest good at the Malta House of Care.
Once again, I cannot fully express my sincere appreciation for all the wonderful people who participated inour Advent Giving Tree Program. This is just one sign—albeit a BIG sign—of the power of the Church inattending to Christ’s Corporal Works of Mercy. As I have said before in homilies—whether we are talking aboutparish ministry’s such as Pantry Partners, St. Elizabeth House, Feed the Hungry or Street Sandwich Ministries, orthe Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, the Advent Giving Tree or the Lenten Mercy Project, there is no greaterinstitution than the Roman Catholic Church in providing social services and care for the poor. Only the federalgovernment of the US, with its taxing authority, can provide more food or hospital care or education. But when itcomes toactions of the heart, we Catholics have a great deal of which to be proud—and that meansyou, the disciples ofChrist. And it’s not just about money, but also our Church’s efficiency.Thank YOU and God BLESS YOU!
