Well, if you have...I have three opportunities I would like you to consider:
Pantry Partners:This ministry, which is comprised of some 10 volunteers, provides boxed food blessings to people in theFarmington Valley who are facing food insecurities. From single parents to families struggling and senior citizens on tight monthlybudgets, the monthly box of food stuffs and staples helps stretch the monthly food bill. Each month the people on our list are called, verified and scheduled to collect their box of food on the 3rdSaturday of the month at 9 a.m.. A group of volunteers collect the boxes offood from MARANDINO’S MARKET and distribute the food at the Church. It is a great group of dedicated volunteers—and we arelooking for a new leader. Karen Willis, who has led this ministry for 15years is retiring and will be heading to a warmer climate. We arenow looking for someone or a few people to cooperate and continue this ministry forward. If you are interested in hearing more aboutthe details, please contact Fr. Michael at 860 658 1642. Thank you!
Lenten Mercy Project:Much like the Advent Giving Tree, theLenten Mercy Projectis a seasonal ministry that isrolled out every Lent, for the 6 weeks of Lent, when the parish collects both financial donations and specified products (juice boxes andcoffee products, socks and sweat shirts, etc., for various groups such as the Little Sisters of the Poor, the US Veterans in Newington,Gifts of Love and more as we “Give Drink to the Thirsty,” “Comfort the Sick,” etc.—all according to the spiritual themes of Lent. Forthe past number of years, Sherry Cordani and Tina Yablonski have organized and very successfully built this ministry structure. Weare looking for a few people to continue this successful Corporal Work of Lenten Mercy. If you are interested in leading this seasonal campaign, I would love to meet with you in more detail and I know Sherry andTina would be willing to offer their insights and expertise on this ongoing parish project. Please reach out to me at 860 658 1642. Thankyou!
Coffee And...prior to Covid, our parish each month organized coffee, donuts and fruit after the Sunday morning 8 a.m. and11 a.m. Masses. The ministry is a welcoming ministry and encourages to meet after Mass to build community in a warm and friendlyway, for a few minutes after the Sunday Masses. Anne and John Hoffman have led this ministry for years and years, and now are lookingto handing the reigns over to a new leadership team to continue the fun and friendship in building our parish community. We, as aparish, are looking to re-organizing this ministry in the Spring, and hopefully with Covid “behind” us we can return to this greatexperience. If you are interested—and this would be a great family ministry—please call Fr. Michael to learn more about it.,860 658 1642. Thank you!
