Faith: It takes a Firm Foundation and Saint Mary School Offers It.
In the ritual of Baptism in the Catholic Church there is a prayer that the celebrant prays that speaks to the parents (and whole family) of the infant as the "first of teachers and the best of teachers in the ways of faith." That is an absolute truth!
When I first arrived here at St. Catherine of Siena in 2007, Mrs. Kathi Bonner, our director of religious education, held a parent meeting and told the parents that "the most important thing you as parents can do for your child’s faith formation is to live your faith; to come to Mass as a family and practice what you believe." She went on to say that attending Mass as a family was more important than a religious education class. I could not agree more with her point. The family, if it is to be Catholic must BE CATHOLIC. And one cannot be a Catholic without the Eucharist. It is, as someone said, grace up-on grace! It changes and transforms us to be more like Christ.
Part of a firm foundation is a great Catholic School education
Right now Saint Mary School is inviting perspective students to consider enrollment. At St. Mary School your child receives a top-level academic education combined with sports, art and music—a well-rounded education for sure – but St. Mary’s offers something much more important than math or science skills—it offers an atmosphere where faith and charity find their way into the molding of the human person. Education is not just about competing in the global world of marketing or science, it is about the ability to apply our academic gifts with compassion and hope for the greater good. That greater good must comprise the Good News of Christ so that we mold future parents, business leaders and community leaders with a sense of compassion and hope.
While you, the parents and families, are the "first and the best of teachers in the ways of faith," why not grab all the support you can find in building the brightest future possible for your child: Eternal Life with God Himself. At Saint Mary School your child will find a safe, nurturing environment that features a consistent moral compass where students are free to excel academically and grow into the people God intends them to be.
