The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal (AAA) was created in 1981 with a goal of $1.6 million yet raised $2,466,310. Since 1981, the AAA has funded Catholic charities and built up the common good to the tune of more than $277,329,662. Since 2006, the Appeal has raised some $9-$10 million per year for the benefit of those in need. Take a moment and consider the noble good the Catholic Church has accomplished.

We as a Catholic Archdiocesan community provide food, medicine, education, emotional and mental healthcare services to all in need, Catholic and non-Catholic alike. We as Church fund and provide adult food shelters, care and compassion to domestic abuse victims; educational opportunities at the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels. We support the common good with Catholic hospitals and organizations such as the Knights of Malta; and we offer our services through Catholic charities to immigrants, working poor, and Pre-K services to their children. The Catholic Church is one of the largest private entities that provides social services in the world—at the global, national, diocesan and parish levels. Even governments that have the authority to tax cannot match the generosity and compassion, the healing hope, that the Catholic Church offers in serving humanity—and she does it for all peoples; her miracles happen every day in-and-through the Church and her volunteers in the name of Christ. I

t is my hope and prayers that our parishoners (and I) join in with all the other parishes of our Archdiocese to continue raise the bar of Catholic Action and prayer in our communities, soothing the anger, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, educating the poor, and building stronger, more functional families to better the common good. This is God’s Plan, and we are called to be part of it.
