Advent Giving Tree …and in the living out of our Christian obligations to care for and be one with those in need, our Advent Giving Tree provides various opportunities to fulfill those obligations of faith. In supporting the Advent Giving Tree with whatever donation you may give—whether it is $5 or $500, the hungry will be fed, the poor will have heat and light, and the sick and those without insurance may be healed and cared for.
Supporting our AGT’s Neighbor in Need fund enables this parish to assist those in need on a temporary basis. In the last week alone, our parish, through your generosity, was able to help a single, working dad provide Christmas dinner and a present or two for his young children. Working a low paying job full time and paying his rent and other monthly bills leaves this dad with limited funds for food and a gift or two. We assisted a person who has health issues obtain a used vehicle—so that she may go back to work—with some money to get to the asking price of the used vehicle. We are supporting local fuel banks in Simsbury and Canton to provide fuel for those in need this winter; and, are supporting the St. Joseph Cathedral and Malta House of Care Food Pantries so that they may stock their shelves with staples and canned supplies for the winter. And we will support the Easter Seals with a grant to support wounded US Veterans seeking employment training and mental health healing. All this from our Neighbors in Need fund. Thank you!
And from your support of the AGT’s Malta House of Care, we will assist this most worthy Catholic healthcare service to diagnose, treat and care for those who have no other option for health care. From 2006 through 2021, some 70,000 patients have been treated by the doctors and nurses and other healthcare provides from the Knights of Malta; 6089 visits in 2020 alone. Patients are comprised of: female (63%); male (37%); Hispanic/Latino (55%); AfricanAmerican/Black (30%); Asian (10%); White (5%). 90% of their patients are living with one or more chronic illnesses (asthma, diabetes hyperlipidemia, hypertension and obesity. Malta House of Care provides access to primary health care to every uninsured adult who seeks it at no cost to the patient.
All this is accomplished because of parishioners like you.
