Beginning Monday, 15 June 2020, Archbishop Leonard P. Blair has appointed me as Vicar for the Office of Education, Evangelization and Catechesis (OEEC)in the Archdiocese of Hartford (AOH). “The OEEC of the Archdiocese of Hartford invites, supports and accompanies parish and Catholic school leaders in their efforts to inspire educational excellence and transformative lifelong faith formation.”
The OEEC was established in January 2016 to align with the pastoral planning process and the overall efforts of the Archdiocese to strengthen and expand the organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and responsiveness to the changing needs of the parishes, schools, clergy, and faithful of the Archdiocese of Hartford. The ultimate goal of the office is to develop a continuum of faith development and Catholic formation that extends from childhood to adulthood. My position is an interim position as I will take over for Sr. Mary Grace Walsh, currently the Provost for the Office and who is taking a new assignment from her Order in St. Louis, MO, until a permanent Provost is hired. This additional role for me means I will spend time at the Pastoral Center in Bloomfield where the OEEC is located, requiring a minor rearrangement of my schedule. The Archbishop noted in his press release that “
In addition to his responsibilities as Vicar, Fr. Whyte will continue in his duties as Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in West Simsbury, where he has ministered since August of 2008 (Temporary Administrator from March 2007-August 2008). He will also continue his duties as a member of the Archdiocesan College of Consultors, Archdiocesan Director of Continuing Formation for Priests, Assistant Chaplain for the Hartford Knights of Malta, Chaplain for the Association of Catholic Nurses, and Trustee of St. Thomas Seminary.”
